Policy Brief 6: Road Towards Bangladesh 2030: Readiness and Priorities for Digital Transformation

The journey toward Bangladesh 2030 requires urgent attention to digital inequality, especially as 63% of students currently lack internet access. During the Innovision’s Bangladesh Miracle webinar, experts highlighted that while accessibility has improved over 50 Years, a significant gap remains between urban and rural connectivity. This disparity hinders remote learning and prevents small enterprises (CMSMEs) from accessing essential digital credit, creating a barrier to inclusive growth.

To fulfill the vision of a digital nation, Innovision advocates for a shift in social behavior and an emphasis on hands-on skill development. Currently, a lack of collaboration between academia and the local ICT industry forces a dependency on foreign technology. We recommend patronizing local IT manufacturers and establishing clear digital policies for the digital transformation. By protecting data privacy and ensuring universal broadband, Bangladesh can successfully navigate the priorities of digital transformation and secure its place in the global economy by 2030.
