Position Summary:
The Senior Research Associate will contribute to Innovision’s mission of fostering data-driven development by leading research and evaluation assignments and strengthening internal MEL systems. The role includes technical design of research and evaluation frameworks, tool development, field management, data analysis, reporting, and supporting business development. The Senior Research Associate will also mentor junior team members and play a key role in maintaining methodological rigor and innovation in the portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
Execution of M&E Activities
- Conduct background research and literature reviews, and provide key insights to team members and management.
- Take lead in developing, designing, conducting, analyzing, and implementing research across a range of thematic areas.
- Design methodologies for surveys, including appropriate sample size calculation and development of survey tools.
- Plan and conduct field visits as per project requirements.
- Lead monitoring of project activities and assist in report preparation.
- Supervise primary data collection, ensuring quality and reliability of data collected by enumerators.
- Design database structures for data entry using tools like MS Excel, SPSS, STATA, or other relevant software.
- Oversee data entry, clean datasets, minimize errors, and conduct statistical validation.
- Lead the analysis of both quantitative and qualitative datasets to generate actionable insights.
- Take lead in preparing high-quality reports, case studies, and other documentation.
- Implement Monitoring Results Measurement (MRM) systems in alignment with DCED (Donor Committee for Enterprise Development) standards.
- Prepare budgets for proposals and contribute to resource planning for projects.
Business Development
- Identify potential M&E assignments from national and international clients.
- Lead or support proposal writing, including methodology development, budgeting, and work planning.
- Engage with clients to understand MEL needs and propose tailored solutions.
- Represent Innovision in external meetings, workshops, and forums to showcase our M&E expertise.
Additional Duties
- Coordinate with internal teams and contribute to cross-portfolio initiatives.
- Ensure all deliverables and activities align with Innovision’s quality assurance and ethical standards.
- Assist with knowledge dissemination through blogs, briefs, and other learning products.
- Support project financial documentation and reporting as needed.

- Mentor and coach junior researchers and field teams in research design, field operations, and data analysis.

Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Development Studies, Statistics, Economics or any Social Sciences
- Minimum 5 years of experience in M&E and Research, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
- Strong technical expertise in M&E frameworks, data analysis, and impact measurement
- Ability to develop Theory of Change, and extensive Logframes. Experience with digital data collection tools and dashboard development.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and report-writing skills.
Preferred Skills
- Proficiency in statistical software (e.g., SPSS, STATA, R, Power BI).
- Strong facilitation and training skills.
- Experience with donor-funded projects and compliance requirements.
- Experience in designing the research proposals for multiple projects
