Union Parishad Project–UJJIBITO (UPP-UJJIBITO) programme in Bangladesh, implemented with support from Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF), was aimed at reducing poverty through economic empowerment, improved nutrition, and social empowerment of vulnerable households. Innovision evaluated the impact of UPP-UJJIBITO and Rural Employment and Road Maintenance Programme (RERMP) interventions using data from 3,409 households, including programme participants and control groups.
Innovision gave econometric and descriptive analysis examining how training, employment opportunities, and social interventions influence household income, nutrition, and wellbeing. Findings suggest that households receiving vocational, self-employment, and skill development training show higher income, savings, investment, and employability compared with control households.
However, Innovision also observed that extreme poverty remains higher among RERMP households due to vulnerability and limited access to training opportunities. Innovision recommends expanding vocational training, strengthening self-employment support, promoting dietary diversity, and enhancing women’s empowerment initiatives to achieve sustainable multidimensional poverty reduction.
