Assessment on Social Cohesion, Resilience and Peace Building between Host Communities and Rohingya Refugee in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh

The prolonged presence of the Rohingya refugee population has significantly impacted the daily lives of host communities, necessitating a shift toward long-term social integration and a symbiotic environment. Innovision provides a central recommendation, which is the creation of an interactive ecosystem where interdependent livelihood systems foster social cohesion.

Strategic interventions proposed by Innovision emphasize the role of Union Parishads and Camp-in-Charges in managing these shared economic spaces. By forming Market Management Committees (MMC), stakeholders can ensure fair pricing, inclusive participation of women and youth, and regulated transactions.

Innovision advocates for localized awareness-building and policy advocacy to strengthen resilience. This includes front-yard meetings and docu-dramas focused on human rights, women’s protection, and the rule of law to reduce the "anti-Rohingya" narrative and prevent gender-based violence. Advocacy efforts also target the enforcement of government mandates requiring 25–30% of project budgets to be allocated to host communities, ensuring that the hospitality of the local population is met with sustained support and peace-building initiatives.
