Innovision Managing Director Highlights the Role of Climate Change Education and Youth Activism at National Dialogue on University Reform

Rubaiyath Sarwar, Managing Director and Lead Consultant of Innovision Consulting, recently addressed the intersection of climate change education and youth activism at a national civil society dialogue on university reform.

Held on September 1, 2024, the event, co-hosted by the ULAB Center for Enterprise and Society (CES) and Dhaka Tribune, provided a platform for in-depth discussions on tertiary education in Bangladesh and potential reforms. The discussion featured over 20 distinguished speakers from various sectors.

Key themes included updating business curricula to incorporate personal finance, wealth management, and business ethics, which would enhance industry relevance and support entrepreneurship. The importance of educational technology and bridging academia with businesses was also emphasized. Discussants agreed that universities should have the autonomy to design their own curricula and integrate private-sector experts into teaching. Additionally, there was a call to revise teaching methods to promote gender equality, minority representation, and climate resilience.

In his remarks, Rubaiyath Sarwar highlighted the transformative impact of environmental education on future professionals. “When students understand the purpose behind learning about environmental awareness, they approach their careers with a mindset geared towards creating change,” he stated.
