Innovision and Swisscontact Conduct Workplace-Based Training at Hop YICK (BD) Ltd. To Empower RMG Workers

Innovision Consulting, in collaboration with Swisscontact, has successfully conducted a workplace-based training program at Hop YICK (BD) Ltd. in Dhaka EPZ under the Building Youth Employability Through Skills (BYETS) project. Running from January 12 to January 27, 2025, the training aimed to build the capacity of in-house Master Trainers within Bangladesh’s Ready-Made Garments (RMG) sector, equipping them with critical skills to enhance efficiency, productivity, and long-term career growth.

In an increasingly competitive global market, investing in modern, accessible, and structured training programs for garment workers is essential to ensure industry sustainability and maintain a competitive edge. By developing a pool of Master Trainers with strong technical and soft skills, Innovision and Swisscontact are fostering a continuous learning culture within RMG factories. This initiative not only enhances worker performance but also contributes to greater employment opportunities and increased export earnings for Bangladesh.

Funded by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands (EKN) and implemented by Swisscontact, the BYETS project aims to empower 25,000 young people in Bangladesh, with a strong focus on gender inclusivity. The program integrates technical skill development, employability enhancement, and entrepreneurial training while connecting participants to job opportunities and self-employment in key industries such as RMG, agro-processing, and ICT.

At Hop YICK (BD) Ltd., Innovision spearheaded the selection of Master Trainers from a diverse pool of factory personnel, prioritizing individuals with over two years of workplace experience. The selection process ensured diversity in expertise, drawing professionals from Industrial Productivity Engineering (IPE), Quality Assurance, Sewing Machine Mechanics, Chief Mechanics, and the Sewing Section. This mix of technical backgrounds enabled a comprehensive approach to workforce training.

The selected Master Trainers underwent an 8-day Training of Trainers (ToT) program, focusing on crucial areas such as effective communication techniques for training delivery, fundamental Industrial Engineering (IE) principles, strategies to support underperforming workers, and soft skills development.

Following the ToT, the top-performing six trainers advanced to a specialized 3-day Training of Assessors (ToA) program. This phase emphasized adapting teaching methodologies to different learning styles, mentoring low performers, and upskilling untrained workers.

These individuals emerged as key drivers in fostering a culture of continuous improvement within their respective departments, strengthening the overall operational efficiency of the factory.

Innovision remains committed to expanding this initiative across key RMG factories in Dhaka and Gazipur in the coming months. By bridging skill gaps and empowering workers with the tools needed to excel in their careers, Innovision and Swisscontact are paving the way for a more resilient and dynamic workforce—one that is skilled, empowered, and prepared to meet the evolving demands of the global market.
