On 17 December 2024, Innovision Consulting, in partnership with the International Labour Organization (ILO), conducted a transformative training on “Seaweed Farming: Post-Harvest Management and Business Development” in Nunier Chara, Cox’s Bazar. The session engaged 35 farmers and was followed by a second training on December 19, 2024, in Paschim Pollhali, benefiting 17 additional farmers. These initiatives aimed to empower local farmers with essential knowledge and skills enhancing seaweed farming practices, fostering sustainable growth, and expanding economic opportunities in the region.

Additionally, participants received a list of seed suppliers, guidance on water quality testing, and contact details for expert support, ensuring they had the resources to succeed in seaweed farming.
This training is part of a broader project led by Innovision and ILO to address key challenges in Cox’s Bazar’s Sea salt and seaweed sectors., By targeting barriers such as limited market access, outdated production techniques, and insufficient financial resources. The project aims to improve livelihoods by diversifying salt products, empowering marginalized groups such as women, youth, minorities, and people with disabilities, and creating a more resilient and inclusive market system. By enhancing labor standards and introducing innovative approaches, this initiative seeks to transform these sectors into key drivers of economic growth and sustainability.
